The holiday party was a success! The students had a lot of fun and Santa even came to visit. I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful winter break. When we will get back we will be starting our monthly unit on animals. Here are our plans for the week...


Monday: We will introduce the letter O and our new unit. This week we will work on farm animals. We will play a farm memory game. We will also work on putting things in different catergories. The students will get the chance to work in the art area, with the computers, and with the sensory table. Ms. Shelly will be here to work with the students.

Tuesday: We will play a fine motor game where the students will feed hay to a cow. The students will trace their letter O and play a number game with cows.

Wednesday: The students will work on two pig activities. They will also get to play a letter matching game and work on their letter O words.

Thursday: The students will get to do an activity involving horses. They will also create a farm scene. We will play a game of BINGO and get to play in the sensory table.

Friday: We will play the animal matching game again and also review the mitten matching game. We will work in the art area as well as computers and get to play with the famr toys. Ms. Jacki will be here to work with the students.

We had a busy week! One more week and then it will be the holiday break. I can’t believe 2009 is almost over! Our theme for this week is Frosty the Snowman. We are working on the letter Nn. Here are our plans for the week…

Monday: We are going to paint with colored ice cubes and work in the art area. We are also going to introduce the letter N and work on cutting and gluing. Ms. Shelly will be in to help us.

Tuesday: We are going to make marshmallow art by decorating a winter scene. We will also get the chance to paint with brooms. We will trace our letter Ns and string beads on pipe cleaners to make candy canes.

Wednesday: The class will be making Frosty the Snowman, working on a Santa sticker activity, recognizing N words, and making pop-up art.

Thursday: This is the day of our holiday party. We will make a hand tree craft, make our own snack, sing carols, have a visit from Santa, and play some holiday themed games.

Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will play a holiday game, use the computers, and work in the art area.

Seriously this year is going by way too fast! We are having a blast and learning at the same time. Next week we are going to be learning about reindeer and the letter M. I am hoping for some winter weather soon! Bring on the snow! Here are the plans for next week…

Monday: We will be working with Ms. Shelly on our gross motor skills as well as our fine motor skills. We will be making a winter tree like the one we did for the fall. We will also be working in the art center, exploring clean mud in the sensory table, and playing a mitten matching game.

Tuesday: We will be making reindeer ears, exploring in the sensory table, working on words that start with M, and weaving mittens together.

Wednesday: We will be making a moveable reindeer. We will also be working with the magnet boards, making paper chains. We will be tracing the letter M as well.

Thursday: We will be doing a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer activity. We will have the students get to use the shaving cream. The students will learn about igloos and get the chance to build one.

Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will get the chance to work on the computers, work in the art area, review the letter M, and explore the sensory table.

Sorry about the late post, all of the turkey I ate made me forget! I hope everyone had a great break. This week our theme is the Night Before Christmas. We will also be working on the letter L. Here are our plans for the week…

Monday: We were able to do some gross motor activities at the beginning of the day. For stations, we made lion heads for introducing the letter L. We also worked in the sensory table, did some sorting, and decorated snowflakes to get our room ready for the winter season.

Tuesday: We will be making stockings, tracing the letter L, playing in the sensory table, and also be making a special project.

Wednesday: The students will be making mice, decorating the letter L, and weaving the stockings.

Thursday: This will be our pajama party day. We will all wear our pajamas to school and bring a stuffed animal, blanket, and pillow so we can relax. We will watch a movie and pop our own popcorn.

Friday: No school for parent teacher conferences.

I am so excited for Tuesday! The students have been working hard to get ready for our Thanksgiving play. I hope all of you will be able to make it! Keep practicing with your student so that they are ready for the play. We have a really short week next week. Here are our plans...

Monday: Ms. Shelly will be in and we will have an obstacle course set up for the students. We will be working on our gross motor skills and also some fine motor as well. We will also be watching a Thanksgiving themed movie. We will also get the chance to practice our lines in the play.

Tuesday: We will prepare for our Thanksgiving play and then it will be time for our play. After the play we will have a big Thanksgiving feast.

Wednesday-Friday: No school for Thanksgiving break. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving! We are going to be practicing for our play next week. I hope all of you will be able to make it. Next week we will be working on the letter K and continuing our theme on family. We will also do some fun Thanksgiving crafts. Here are the plans for next week...

Monday: Ms. Shelly will be in to work with the students. We will be doing a fine motor craft dealing with turkeys. The students will also put together a necklace with straws and string. We will introduce the letter K and the students will get the chance to use the sensory table. At 6:30 pm, parents are welcome to come to Prairieview for a curriculum night and to see our two classrooms. Please come if you can!

Tuesday: If the weather is nice we will be going on a nature walk and what we find on our walk we will use later during stations to make nature art. The students will also get the chance to investigate corn and make a hand print turkey.

Wednesday:The students will get to see how popcorn is made. We also make a cornucopia art project, family puppets, and trace the letter K.

Thursday: Today, we will talk about what we are thankful for. We will also make Pilgrim and Native American head pieces. The students will make kites for the letter K and will play a matching game. We will also be having picture retakes on this day.

Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with students. Students will work on letters and do an art project. They will get the chance to work on the computers and play with magnet boards.

I can't believe it is November! We are learning all kinds of things about the month and Thanksgiving. The students seem to be having a great time at school and are learning a lot. I am so happy with the progress they have all made since the beginning of the school year. Here are plans for next week...

Monday: Ms. Shelly will be in to work with the students. We will be introducing the letter J, playing a game, and drawing with chalk.

Tuesday: We will be making a log cabin and doing a turkey craft. We will paint with marbles and use the sensory table as well.

Wednesday: No School for Veteran's Day

Thursday: The students will do a project on family, trace the letter J and play with magnet learning boards. The students will also get to work with corn.

Friday: The students will play a letter matching game, work on computers, make jello art, and practice cutting. Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students as well.

Our Halloween party was a success! I feel that the students had a lot of fun dressing up and playing some Halloween themed games. Thanks to all the parents that were able to help with this party. We are looking forward to starting the month of November. Our main theme for the month is family. Our activities will work with this theme and also other things that happen in November. Here are the plans for next week...

Monday: We will be introducing the letter I and our unit on family. The students will also get the chance to do some fine motor activities.

Tuesday: The class will be making a family mobile and doing a project on the letter I. They will also be working with numbers and colors.

Wednesday: We will be answering the question what makes my family special. We will also be making noodle necklaces and tracing the letter I. The students will be fishing for the letter I as well.

Thursday: The students will be making a family portrait today. They will also be making a turkey project and completing a counting turkeys page. The student will work with magnet boards as well.

Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will review the letter I and do a fall activity. The students will get the chance to work on the computer.

Halloween is next week and the class is really getting excited. Even though it rained the entire time during our field trip to the pumpkin farm the students had a great time! I am really happy with how much progress they have all shown these last few months. It is going by so quickly! Here are our plans for our short week…

Monday: We will be learning about the letter H. We will also play with shaving cream and work with play dough during stations. The students will practice letter recognition as well.

Tuesday: We will talk about mail carriers and do a project about that theme. We will also be making haunted houses. The students will practice cutting and play a color recognition game.

Wednesday: The students will be making scary spider gloves. They will also make a mail bag. For the letter H they will practice tracing the letter H and they will fish for H’s.

Thursday: We will be having our Halloween party and the students are encouraged to come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes. We will be making Halloween crafts and playing lots of Halloween themed games. If you are helping with this party it will start at 10:30. Thanks for your help in advance!

Friday: No School! Have a wonderful long Halloween weekend!

A lot of things went on this week. We were able to do progress reports on all of the students. Our year is quickly moving by! I can’t believe Halloween is around the corner. Ms. Renata is a really great addition to our group. The students are adjusting well to a new teacher. I am really looking forward to next week. We have a lot of fun activities planned. Here are our plans:

Monday: We will be introducing the letter G and doing a fun hands on activity with an actual pumpkin. Ms. Shelly will be in to work with the students as well.

Tuesday: We will be making police badges and we will also be able to explore the inside of a pumpkin. One of our stations will be working on our colors. We will also practice with different position words (ex. On, over, around, behind, under, etc.).

Wednesday: We will be having our second early dismissal. Students that are picked up by parents will be dismissed at 10:30 am. If your student takes the bus they will all be riding the same bus and will be leaving school around 11:05. Please let me know if your transportation is going to be changed on this day. Thanks!

On this day we will be doing stations that deal with police officers and other community helpers. We will also be practicing writing our names and our letters that we have been working on so far. The students will work in the sensory table to find the letter G.

Thursday: This is the day of our field trip to the pumpkin farm. We will be leaving at 9:05 so be sure to drop your students off on time, if you drive them to school. Be sure to dress for the weather since we will be outside for the entire trip.

Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. The student will get the chance to use the computers. We will review the letter G and our different community helpers.

We were able to learn a lot about firefighters this week. We also practiced tracing the letter E and made some fun Halloween crafts. Since our Early Childhood class is growing we have hired a new teacher. We are really looking forward to her starting on Tuesday. Next week our community helper will be the doctor. Here are plans for next week...


Monday: Columbus Day No School


Tuesday: We will introduce the letter F. All our stations will be working on learning about the letter F.


Wednesday: Mrs. Will and Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will also do a doctor craft.


Thursday: We will be making a pumpkin craft and tracing the letter F. We will also talk about what doctors do and the tools they use.


Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will review the letter F and work on some sensory activities. The students will also get the chance to use the computers.

We had an amazing week learning about the letter D and finishing our getting to know you unit. I can't believe September is over! Our new unit is important community helpers. We will start our unit with Fire Fighters. We will also be working on the letter E. Here are our plans for the week...

Monday: We will be introducing our new unit and letter by painting flames and tracing the letter E. We will also focus on other fine motor activities. Ms. Shelly will be here to work with the students as well.


Tuesday: We will be making a Dalmatian art project and we will make a black cat too. We will also do a project with the letter E. One station will focus on sequencing.


Wednesday: We will be coloring firefighters, tracing E's, and playing with play dough. Mrs. Will and Ms. Jacki will be doing a station.


Thursday: We will decorate a fire truck and make a spider web with a spider. We will also fish for E's and complete a cutting practice activity.


Friday: Ms. Jacki will be in to work with the students. We will review the letter E and go over the important things that firefighters do. The students will also get the chance to use the computers.

We had a great week learning more about each other and learning all about the letter C. I will be sending home a permission slip for our first field trip soon. It is for our trip to Johansen's Pumpkin Farm in Bollingbrook. It will be on October 22nd. I can't believe it is almost October! We are having a lot of fun learning new things. Here are plans for next week...


Monday: Ms. Shelly will be in to work with the students. We will be introducing the letter D and focusing on our fine motor skills.


Tuesday: We will be working on our addresses and doing a fall activity. We also will go over different D words and make a little book about the letter D. There will be a station for the students to fish for the letter D.


Wednesday: We will be doing an activity with our names and tracing the letter D. We will also have a play dough station and Mrs. Will and Mrs. Navarro will be running a station.


Thursday: This will be our picture day. It is going to be a little out of order so we will be playing different games, working on puzzles, and we may have the chance to watch a movie. We will also work on the letter D some more.


Friday: Mrs. Navarro will be in to help us with stations. The students will be able to go on the computer and will also review the letter D. We will also review our numbers and colors.

Our letter B week was a success. We were able to do many different activities dealing with the letter B. We also got the chance to learn more about each other. Each day our transitioning gets easier. I am really excited to see how this year is going to turn out. Here are plans for next week...


Monday: We will be introducing the letter C. We will work on tracing our name as well as the letter C. We will also be working on our fine motor skills with a cutting activity. Mrs. Strong will be in to work with the students as well.


Tuesday: We will be having an early dismissal today. If your child gets picked up by you they will be dismissed at 10:30 with the preschool. If your child takes the bus they will be boarding the bus around 11:05. If your transportation changes for this day be sure to tell me as soon as you know. Thanks! Our stations today will be making a self portrait, tracing the letter C, sorting, and a number game.


Wednesday: We will be decorating a blank face during stations. We will also complete a coloring leaves project. Another station will be a cutting practice station. Mrs. Navarro and Mrs. Will are going to run our last station.


Thursday: We will be working on another letter C page. We will also be making an all about me book. One of our stations will be play dough. We will also be fishing for the letter C.


Friday: Mrs. Navarro will be in today to do a large group project. We will also be doing some stations that will review the letter C and working with our counting skills.

Our first week with the preschool went really well. We were able to follow directions and get everything done. All of your kids are experts on the letter A. Next week we will begin working on the letter B and we will continue of all about me unit. Here are plans for next week...


Monday: We will be introducing the letter B. We will be using magnets and sandpaper to work on the letter B. The game we will play will be button BINGO.


Tuesday: We will be painting with bubble wrap. We will also be tracing our silhouettes and tracing the letter B. Our last station will be an art project with bears.


Wednesday: One of our activities today will be dealing with learning our address and phone numbers by completing an all about me star. We will also be working on writing our letter B. Mrs. Will and Mrs. Navaro will be here to do a station.


Thursday: We will be marble painting leaves today as well as playing a number game. The students will get the chance to fish for the letter B and to also make an all about me poster.


Friday: We will be reviewing what we learned this week. We will go over B words and pictures of B words. We will also trace the letter B and review our phone numbers and addresses.

We had a great 2nd week of school! We accomplished a lot. We were able to play outside and get some art projects done. We read lots of books, played games, and listened to music. We are looking forward to next week when the other preschool students start. Here are the plans for next week:


Monday: No School because of Labor Day.


Tuesday: Today the preschool will start with us. We will work on tracing the letter A and writing the letter A in shaving cream. We will also be doing a left and right hand project. We will read If You Take a Mouse to School.


Wednesday: Today will be our expressions day. We will be working on different kinds of expressions by doing an activity with stamp pads. We will also use a card game and mirrors to practice different expressions. Our other station will be a number game.


Thursday: Today, we will be making personalized place mats. We will also be doing a project that is about the letter A. Our last station will be apple painting.


Friday: We will review the letter A by singing the A song. We will be tracing the letter A and will also go over words that start with A. Our story will be I Like Me.

I can't believe our first week of class is over. We had a great week getting to know each other and getting used to our new room. Next week, it will still be only the ECE students during class. After Labor Day the preschool students will start. We are going to be preparing the students for this next week. This week we worked a lot with colors and numbers. We also worked on sequencing. Once the preschool starts we will start working on different themes. Here is the plan for next week:

On Monday, we will be painting with marshmallows and playing some counting games. Our story will be Froggy Goes to School.

On Tuesday, we will paint with marbles and play a color recognition game. Our story will be Time for School, Nathan.

On Wednesday, we will work on our letters by playing ABC BINGO and another alphabet game. We will read Shiver Me Letters a Pirate ABC.

On Thursday, we will be working on sorting different objects into different groups. The story we will read is Leo the Late Bloomer.

On Friday, we will be working on our shapes. We will work in small groups to match up shapes and also to work with them in a game. Our story will be Huggly Goes to School.
